Malcolm Blackwell is Dad of the co-founder of DanceSyndrome Jen, born with Down’s syndrome.

Together with wife Sue, Malcolm has constantly sought creative solutions to enable their ambition for both their children to be treated with respect and valued for the unique individuals they are. Malcolm and Sue created the foundations for Jen and Anthony, and since founding DanceSyndrome for thousands of others, to have the right support and opportunities to pursue their dreams and follow their passions.

From a working-class background, Malcolm pursued a career in mechanical engineering, taking one step at a time with each new role and opportunity. Malcolm has over 35 years experience of running complex international manufacturing businesses around the world. He spent most of this time leading businesses through challenging times and transition, which always led to achieving profitable growth.

Malcolm is recognised for managing change effectively, building teams and empowering people whilst recognising the different cultures and aspirations of all those involved.

Malcolm’s ethos focuses on listening to individuals finding ways to enable them to follow the path that encourages growth and opportunities to reach their potential – whether that’s in his career, family life, or DanceSyndrome.

Malcolm and Sue love their nomadic lifestyle, made possible by Jen having the right support and structure to live independently. Sailing, skiing and exploring the outdoors are passions they continue to enjoy.
